I examine the connection between culture, language, and college knowledge, as it relates to college framing among Latino parents with elementary school-aged children. I organize my work into the role of institutions, parents, families and underserved groups through an asset-based lens to better understand the collective decision making of communities. I also examine funds of knowledge, community cultural wealth, and critical agency in exploring university programs and community capacity building around issues of access. I explore the ways in which structures of inequality in higher education institutions are embedded in the framing and funding of various sorts of offices and programs.
I am a proud daughter and the product of 2 Mexican migrant farm workers.
