I was responsible for...
During this time frame, I am working closely with our volunteers. I am helping them train for what they are going to be doing at the event and sending them constant contact emails about updates. Also, I am working with the sponsorships to make sure they have their banner, have paid their part and contacting them about events.

I accomplished...
So far I have accomplished sending certain constant contact emails to our volunteers and our sponsorships. I have created a package deal for them so they can get a discount on tickets and food. I have organized all our banners with our sponsorships. With this, I look over to see who have paid and if they logo is correct on the banner. The last thing is we have met with Adventureland. This is where we are holding the event. We have discussed traffic, food, bathroom locations, restaurants, logistics, volunteers and more.

My most valuable effort...
I would say that I don't really have one particular valuable project because I am working on minor projects for the ending project which is the Jolly Holiday Lights. In the end this will be the most rewarding because I will evaluate how people enjoyed the event and the overall experience.

I learned...
I would say that timing is everything. We have deadlines for when we send updates to our sponsors and volunteers. Its good to plan ahead so you are not rushing in the end because there could be a good chance that you will make a mistake instead of making sure the letter is clean and no grammar mistakes.

I will never forget...
We had a meeting with Adventureland and during the meeting we were at a restaurant and I felt very laid back. Everyone is so genuine and easy to get a long with. The meeting was not in a formal setting and people were just laughing and having a good time together and we also got a lot done that day.

A surprising discovery...
I expected that I would be working with our Wish-Kids for the event but its the complete opposite. During my training I found out that only our family resource guide is only allowed to work with our wish kids.

Advice for others...
Take advantage of the different opportunities on campus. This will help you in the long run and will look good on the resume as well. Lastly really utilize your advisors. They are there for you and they provide a ton of resources for you!

I first learned about this career-building experience from...
I met with one of my sorority sisters about this and there was a girl 5 years older than me who had this kind of experience.

I landed this assignment by...
I received and email from our advisors about this position. Having our advisors emails us about certain positions has really helped because I can see all the different varieties of jobs in our industry.

I wanted this experience because...
I have always wanted to get involved with non-profits and I knew that Make-A-Wish has been very rewarding and I wanted that experience for myself.
