My greatest accomplishment at Ballard High School was developing, implementing and analyzing my own strength and conditioning program. Also, developing rapport with the students was a great accomplishment. My greatest accomplishment at Nevada Central Elementary was increasing my content knowledge in elementary Physical Education. I learned a lot of valued teaching strategies, management strategies and activities.
Student teaching has taught me to be reflective and patient. As a teacher, you must constantly be reflecting on your teaching to evaluate what can be improved.
Advice for others...
Establish connections at the school you are student teaching at. Eat in the teachers lounge, engage other teachers in conversation. Constantly seek out opportunities to learn from other professionals. Do not limit yourself to your student teaching placement. Over plan your lessons. Push yourself out of your comfort zone. Don't only teach things your are comfortable with. Experience something new, try something new, failing is okay- you learn more from failing than you do succeeding. Use your resources. Friends, teachers, coaches, they are all willing to help. All you need to do is ask. 51%/49%- Give 51% and take 49%, this will build leverage with anything you do in life. Be personable.
