I was responsible for...
When I first started at my internship, the other intern and I were given a Google Doc with projects that they wanted us to complete during our time as interns. The first assignment was the biggest assignment throughout the internship because it involved a vast amount of research and about 40 pages worth of writing. When we were completed with this assignment, it was like a weight lifted off our shoulders because it took about 6 weeks to accomplish. Along with this big assignment, I had smaller accomplishments throughout my time here. I designed a flyer for the John Mayer concert explaining the benefits of volunteering so it wasn’t so word heavy! Along with this, I had weekly blog posts that I had to create, daily Facebook posts, and creating articles for various purposes such as posting to LinkedIn. Although I did a lot of social media activities, I was a head volunteer at some of the events we would put on and I had the great opportunity to meet many people within the community that were fighting hard to make it a better place.

I accomplished...
When I first spoke to Justin, the founder at Project helping, he asked me about my ideal experience that I wanted to get out of this internship and he would do the best to provide it to me. I told him that I wanted to know the in’s and the out’s of non-profits while also improving the lives of others. Throughout my summer here, I have accomplished just that. I have been exposed to many activities including holding events at Red Rock’s Amphitheatre, City Park Jazz Festival, and a John Mayer concert. Because volunteering is such a huge aspect of what we do here at Project Helping, I also lead a handful of events including helping at the Food Bank of the Rockies and sorting items at the Action Center located in Lakewood, Colorado. Along with many activities throughout this summer, I have had many accomplishments!

I learned...
During my internship experience, it was very relaxed. We had an office that we had weekly team meetings at once a week. If we wanted to work in the office during the week we could but it wasn't required. One lesson I learned during my time as an intern was about hard work. Our boss trusted us to get all of our projects completed while being able to choose our best place of work.

Advice for others...
My workplace had a great company culture. Bring a great attitude to the table, be a hard worker and do everything above and beyond!
