I was responsible for...
•Collaborated with the Domestic Abuse team in giving clients the necessary services and support they need to thrive •Responded to crisis phone calls from individuals seeking assistance and support •Attended subpoenas, trials, and sentencing hearings in cases of domestic abuse •Participated in monthly team meetings to discuss client cases and current programs

I accomplished...
The greatest accomplishment from my experience is seeing the perpetrators of domestic abuse receive justice for their actions and crimes. You can almost see the stress leave the body of victims and they're overcome with a sense of relief.

I learned...
I've learned that it is difficult for victims to receive the protection, safety and happy life that they deserve because it is difficult to convict perpetrators of abuse, especially if it's abuse that isn't visible to the human eye. To help avoid this situation from occurring, education is extremely important especially in youth and adolescents.

Advice for others...
Do something that you have a passion for but also may be a new and foreign experience. Your internship is the time to explore your options and start narrowing down what you may want to do in your career.
