I was responsible for...
I worked overnight and supervised the kids on the unit. During the shift, I would clean the unit, update paperwork for the new day, and count various meds that the youth were taking. The majority of the shift occurred while the kids were sleeping, but I was also responsible for waking them up and getting them ready for school the next day.

I accomplished...
My greatest accomplishment would be learning a lot of the job from trial and error. My training occurred during the day shift, but once I started working on my own, I was on overnights. Each shift has different responsibilities due to the time of day and location of the youth.

I learned...
Be kind to everyone. From the people you are working for, to the people you are working with. Everyone talks about the intern. I was offered to stay on after my internship and a lot of the reason had to do with my interactions with the youth, other resident advisors, and supervisors.

Advice for others...
Don't be afraid to ask questions. There are moments that you will be thrown into a situation that you won't know what to do. If you don't ask, you will never know what to do for next time.
