I was responsible for...
I was responsible for conducting/assisting fitness evaluations, which included measuring resting heart rate and blood pressure, and body composition. I also wrote program designs, which entailed developing individualized exercise programs for members based on their goals and current fitness levels. Also, I was responsible for new member orientation, co-teaching group exercise classes, and supervision of the fitness center. In addition, I led a member incentive program called Group Exercise Bingo and I generated marketing materials (flyers, bulletin board, advertisements), wrote goals for the program, and assessed the metrics of the incentive program. I also attended weekly staff meetings and listened in on calls for ongoing programs for EXOS and assisted the staff with current projects, programs, and special events. I led department stretch breaks with a coworker that was held outside of the fitness center. Every week I researched and put together a packet of stretches for the employees that attended the stretch breaks.
There were many accomplishments throughout my internship including successfully leading an incentive program called Group Exercise Bingo and gaining confidence in a professional setting and corporate fitness center environment.
Some of the greatest lessons that I learned from my internship experience was gaining the hands on experience and tools needed to be confident in a corporate fitness center environment. Networking and professionalism is essential and it is important to put your effort towards building relationships in order to make connections.
