I was responsible for...
My responsibilities included: recording patient's weight and pain scale, applying telemetry patches, recording blood glucose (if applicable), monitoring telemetry and RPE scales, acquiring resting and exercising blood pressures, updating patients charts during and after exercise sessions, occasionally attending Nursing Grand Rounds (informative lunches), typing informative sheet for patients, developing exercise programs (mostly resistance band) for patients, and completing generic office duties.
My greatest accomplishments form my experience would be gaining the confidence to take blood pressures, being able to read and understand EKG's, understand the intake process for patients, and completing many exercise programs for patients.
My greatest lessons learned from my experience was how much cardiac rehab can benefit a patient, each patient has their own story, and how much patients have to deal with after an event. Comparing patient's from day one in cardiac rehab with their last day, really shows their health progression.
Advice for others...
My advice for future students would be, to do as much hands-on training you possibly can before you graduate, try to attend lectures that interest you most, do extra studying on subjects that will help your future career, and make sure you're choosing the right career that best fits YOUR passion.
