I was responsible for...
Primarily, helping set up and tear down events. This includes looking at the client's details for specific set up instructions and making sure everything is in its correct place for them to utilize it. After the event, cleaning up the venue and making sure it is spotless for the next round of events. In addition, being present during the event making sure everything is running smoothly and catering to the guests' every need.

I accomplished...
I have learned to set tables exceptionally well, how to make the most use of my time when it came to setting up, and learning to take change in stride.

My most valuable effort...
Working on their drink menu to create one from scratch with my supervisor was a learning experience and I found it so valuable so now, during client meetings, we can present them with a tangible drink menu along with the regular food menu.

I learned...
I have learned to be a better server during formal dinners and to be more of a fly on the wall than being so out in the open.

I will never forget...
Just being able to see an event from start to finish and be able to see the satisfaction on the guest's face once it is over.

A surprising discovery...
I did not expect how great of a time commitment the set up and tear down process was. It has changed my approach to be ready for a large amount of time when it comes to that, and to be very appreciative of the people who do those tasks in the future. Because now I know how difficult it can be.

Advice for others...
Be willing to possibly change your frame of reference on some aspects of your work so that you might grow as a person and as a professional.

I first learned about this career-building experience from...
An email sent out from Jamie Beyer expressing the venue's need for an intern.

I landed this assignment by...
I received an email from Jamie Beyer about the position and then I emailed the lady from the venue to ask if the position was still open. She responded and said it was and so I went in for an interview and was hired on the spot.

I wanted this experience because...
I wanted this assignment because I especially love weddings and special events and I knew that this particular venue would host those kinds of things.
