I was responsible for...
I am responsible for many different things at Aspen Meadows Resort. I have worked shifts such as breakfast where I am responsible for taking orders for tables, bussing, doing rollups, polishing silverware and glassware, resetting the room, and making sure the buffet is fully stocked. I have also worked shits with Conference Services. My responsibilities during these shifts are to read BEO's accurately. I setup and tear down conference rooms fit to what BEO's say. I also set up and tear down AM & PM food hubs. During meeting breaks I will refill and restock the water in the conference room as well. Another shift I have at Aspen Meadows is banquet serving. My responsibilities are to correctly serve people food to the correct table and seat number. I have to properly pour wine as well.

I accomplished...
My accomplishments are learning how to properly pour wine. I have also gained a lot of knowledge when it comes to reading BEO's. I have officially served my first table as a waitress as well.

My most valuable effort...
The most valuable project that I have worked on was Ideas Festival which was a 10-day event hosted at Aspen Meadows Resort. People from all around the country came to this event to talk about very important things. I felt like it was the most valuable to me because I got to be apart of up and coming ideas in the future.

I learned...
The most valuable learning experience that I have encountered so far is that hospitality is not brain surgery. This is a direct quote from one of my fellow co-workers. You have to try your best at work, but if you flub it's not like you are performing brain surgery. You just have to shake it off and try better next time.

I will never forget...
The most memorable moment that I've experience so far is working a 15 hour shift during Ideas Fest. It was very challenging, but it made me realize that if I could get through that day with a smile on my face, then I could get through any day.

A surprising discovery...
The amount of hours and tedious work really surprised me. I realized that I would be working a lot of hours, but the thought of it and actually working them are two completely different things. I feel like it was hard to transition at first, but now I am realizing that it's all apart of the industry and you can adapt to anything.

Advice for others...
My advice would be to give anything you might be interested in a shot. You may love it or you may realize it isn't right for you. Either way you'll come out at the end and learn from it. It's not necessarily all about the glamorous life, but the experience and relationships that you make from it.
