I was responsible for...
Leading and assisting meeting room and banquet dinner setups in the hotel function spaces. Responsible for meeting the financial goals of the hotel/convention center, which includes guaranteeing that events are performed to the highest standards. Developing contracts, administrative/operational duties, preparing and executing events. Additionally, I supervise many of the banquet departments and work with other departments to warrant that guest expectations are exceeded.

I accomplished...
Becoming a leader among my peers while earning the respect of my manager and general manager. This means a lot to me because I have worked so hard to become respected and also known for my work, my boss has allowed me to do many varieties of supervising whether it be for setup or it be major events. I can now lead a team of my own and make the most of our duties, for instance, the Air Force Ball was a hit because I was able to figure out a way through a work flow system that allowed us to avoid making mistakes and creating constructive progress.

I learned...
Manage your time, there may come a point when you or your employees think "there is nothing to do" This example makes-up one of the challenges will be have to deal with as a leader and with a clear understanding of time management you will learn how to make the best use of your time and your employee's time.

Advice for others...
You have to motivate yourself when it gets challenging and you have to learn that time is everything. Hospitality isn’t just making guest happy but it’s also doing right by others that you work with.
