The Academy

The Family and Consumer Sciences Education program at Iowa State University offers a new delivery method for its longstanding, prestigious graduate program: the Family and Consumer Sciences Education Leadership Academy. The Academy focus is to provide graduate education at the Master's and Doctoral levels to professionals who commit to several weeks of resident experiences at ISU during the summer months. The program of study also includes distance education opportunities, assuring that the participant can maintain his or her professional position while undertaking this program.

The Family and Consumer Sciences Education Leadership Academy aspires to strengthen Family and Consumer Sciences by inviting collaborative participation in reflection, renewal, and development of professional scholarship and engagement.

New admissions to the Family and Consumer Sciences Education Academy have been suspended.

A residential summer academy will be held in 2008 for current students.

The date for reopening this program to new students will be based on information yielded from a variety of sources, including a regular University program review which will be underway soon. Through this input we will have a better understanding of appropriate program goals, the capacity of this program for student enrollments, and thus a feasible date for future new admissions.

Should you need further information, please contact the College of Human Sciences Dean's Office (515-294-7800) where you will be directed to the associate dean who is assisting with this process.
