Cheryl Hausafus

Dr. Cheryl O. Hausafus has been a faculty member in the Family and Consumer Sciences Education program since 1978. She earned her PhD from Iowa State University (Home Economics Education, with a minor in Computer Sciences) and her MS from The Pennsylvania State University (Home Economics Education). She is currently the Director of Graduate Education for Family and Consumer Sciences Education. She also holds a joint appointment in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Prior to her employment at Iowa State University, she was an assistant professor at East Carolina University, and a home economics and food service teacher at the high school level. Dr. Hausafus is actively involved with family and consumer sciences teacher educators nationally and has been a leader in providing distance education courses through interactive fiber optic and internet-based systems. Her scholarly interests include career and technical education, computer technology applications in education, curriculum development and assessment, adolescent development, and research methodology. She has received the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Outstanding Researcher Award and the ISU College of Family and Consumer Sciences Career Teaching Award. Author of 2 books, 5 curriculum projects and many refereed journal articles. She has served on numerous graduate students' committees, and supervised 33 masters and 30 doctoral students.
