Copyright - a legal protection to the authors of "original works of authorship," including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other works. The copyright owner has the exclusive right to control and authorize reproduction, distribution and transformation of the work.

Fair Use - the legal concept that allows for the use of a copyrighted work for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research without the need for permission from the copyright owner.

• Various factors must be considered when determining whether "Fair Use" applies, such as whether the use affects the market potential of the original, how widely it will be distributed and under what conditions.
