College of Human Sciences events celebrate VEISHEA 2008
The students, faculty and staff of the College of Human Sciences have once again planned a plethora of tantalizing treats, family-friendly feats, and perplexing puzzles so you can learn, laugh and lunch your way through the annual VEISHEA celebration on the Iowa State University campus in Ames.
Friday, Apr. 11
VEISHEA cherry pies
Buy pies for $1 each and become part of Iowa State's longest running tradition. Sponsored by the Department of Apparel, Educational Studies and Hospitality Management. 16 MacKay Hall.
Buy treats, beverages
Support the Graduate Student Association of Hospitality Management by buying water ($1), soda ($1), coffee ($1), ice cream ($2), and smoothies ($2) to complement your cherry pies. 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m., located at the end of the cherry pie line in 16 MacKay.
See "The Jungle Book" come to life
Janice Baker, an associate professor of dance in kinesiology, directs of cast of 32, including Iowa State students and young people from the Ames area, bring this classic story to life with colorful costumes and dance. Produced by Children's Theater in cooperation with ISU Dance. Tickets are $7 anda re available at the door. 7:30 p.m., 196 Forker Building.
Fabulous fudge
Pick up some homemade fudge for yourself and some gifts while helping the Food Science Club members attend club industry trips, competitions and conferences. Choose from Four Seasons Fudge Fountain Chocolate, Peanut Butter Parade, Chocolate Mint, and Cyclone varieties. Cost is $1 for three pieces, $5 for a half pound, and $9 for a pound. 206 MacKay.

This exhibit, titled "Teaching, Technology and Leadership -- Looking to the Future" is for kids of all ages, with free gifts for children. Learn about curriculum and instruction programs.

Bean bag toss, trail mix and recipe books
Learn nutrition and test your bean bag tossing skills. Picture yourself as a fruit or vegetable and take home a photo. Learn how much fat is in a Big Mac or chicken nuggets. various foods. Buy trail mix for a $1 from the Nutrition Club and recipe books from the Student Dietetic Association. Fun for kids of any age. 8 a.m.-4 p.m., on central campus, across the street from Beardshear Hall.
Play family games and win prizes
Play family games for children, youths, and adults for 50 cents and support the Human Development and Family Studies Club. Shake your hips and compete in a hoola hoop contest. Put for our hole-in-one game. Test your eye-hand coordination at the Tic-Tac-Toe Bean Bag Toss. Color a picture of Cy. Win prizes like temporary tattoos, minature Play-dohs, miniature bubbles, miniature paint sets, and miniature football pinball. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. under Cy's Big Top on central campus.
Taste dishes from around the world
Feast on food from more than 20 countries at the International Food Fair. The food is prepared by natives of the countries represented. Entry cost is $3 for individuals, $8 for families. Food prices start at 50 cents. Hosted by the International Student Council. 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Great Hall, Memorial Union.
