Iowa State University will pilot two community college leadership programs
AACC selects ISU to evaluate equity, stakeholders, community engagement programs
The Leadership Institute for a New Century (LINC), part of the Community College Leadership Program (CCLP), was recently selected by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to pilot two leadership programs at Iowa State. The pilot programs, "Developing the equity agenda for community colleges," and "Stakeholders and community engagement for community colleges," reflect initiatives for the AACC. Larry Ebbers, university professor and founder of LINC, feels this is a well-timed opportunity.
"We've worked closely with the AACC for a number of years," Ebbers said. "I think they recognize the quality of our programs and they recognize LINC as an innovative program as one that develops future community college leaders."
Twenty-four students were part of the pilot programs, participating in monthly meetings at area community college campuses, in Des Moines, and on the Iowa State campus. After they completed the program, the AACC took students' evaluations and recommendations.
The LINC program is now in its seventeenth year and has served over 250 students. For more information regarding the AACC pilot programs or LINC, contact Larry Ebbers at 515-294-8067 or lebbers@iastate.edu.
