Middle-aged adults needed for ISU study
Researchers will study affects of flaxseed on cholesterol
An Iowa State University research team is seeking mid-life adults to participate in a study on the effects of flaxseed components called lignans on blood cholesterol. Qualified test subjects have high blood cholesterol levels but are not taking medication for high cholesterol or high blood pressure. Candidates must be males between the ages of 40 and 65 or females between the ages of 50 and 65 who are no more than five years post-menopause.
Participants will visit the Nutrition and Wellness Research Center in the ISU Research Park seven times over a four-month period. They will take daily supplement tablets, provide several small blood samples, and answer questions. Their blood pressure, height and weight will be measured periodically. Compensation is available.
