2010 U.S. News and World Report released, 24 ISU grad programs in top 100
ELPS, education among standouts
AMES, Iowa --Iowa State University College of Human Sciences graduate programs received three top 100 nation rankings in the 2010 edition of “America’s Best Graduate Schools,” published online by U.S. News and World Report magazine.
The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) programs were ranked among the top twenty programs nationally in two categories. The higher education administration program was ranked 13th overall and eighth among public universities. In the student counseling and personnel services category, ELPS was ranked 18th overall and 16th among public institutions.
“ELPS is thrilled and excited that we have received these prestigious national rankings,” said Laura Rendón, professor and department chair in ELPS. “It puts us in the category among the top programs of the top universities in the nation. This recognition speaks highly of the outstanding quality of our faculty and students.”
Also receiving recognition is the education graduate program, ranked 96th overall in the nation.
Carl Smith, professor and department chair in curriculum and instruction, said the new rankings come as a result of an exceptional commitment to the field of education.
“I think this reflects on the hard work of our faculty and staff, the outstanding leadership of senior faculty and staff and the excellent new faculty who have joined our department in recent years.”
The U.S. News and World Report ranks graduate schools in the following areas: business, education, engineering, law medical, and other. The only College of Human Sciences graduate programs evaluated were those in the “education” area.
