ISU faculty create rural renaissance community index to curb out-migration

High water is making the news today, but a flood of Iowans leaving the state may have a greater impact.

A group of 12 Iowa State University researchers, led by Ann Marie Fiore and co-led by Linda Niehm, is working to stem the tide of people pouring out of the state. The researchers' community index is designed to identify some of the greatest attributes found in rural Iowa communities with an interactive database. It also provides a blueprint for strengthening city infrastructures that stimulate business and population growth.
