Marcketti honored by ITAA for best historical, cultural paper -
Research by Sara Marcketti, assistant professor in AESHM, was recognized with a Best Paper Award in the historic/cultural category, at the International Textile and Apparel Association conference in October. Her work, "Codes of fair competition," highlights the difficulties and complexities of achieving industry-wide standard practices through self-regulation.

Healthy Male Volunteers Needed -
Males 18-50 years of age who have no history of gastointestinal disease and no allergy/sensitivity to acetaminophen are needed for a study to determine the effects of food viscosity on appetite. Visits include consuming a soup and pasta meal and collection of blood samples over 3 hours. Email arumugam@iastate.edu if you would like to participate or for further details.

Although some believe traditional methods are more personal, new communication customs are accompanying increased use of text messaging and social networking channels. Scott McLeod credits new technologies with increasing personal connections. McLeod, associate professor in edcuational leadership and policy studies, was featured in a WHO TV News clipsthat aired Nov. 2.
