Honors Program

Program of Study

Once a student has been admitted to the College of Human Sciences Honors Program, he/she needs to submit a Program of Study to the College Honors Program Committee.

  • If you are admitted during the FALL semester, your POS is due by November 1 of that semester.
  • If you are admitted during the SPRING semester, your POS is due by April 1 of that semester.
  • If you are admitted AFTER the due date during any semester, your POS is due the following semester by the deadlines given above.

Students are to attach a current degree audit or four-year plan to the cover sheet. On the degree audit or four-year plan, you need to indicate (highlight, underline, or star) the following:

  • Honors courses: One OUTSIDE your major and one WITHIN your major. Indicate the semester you have taken or plan to take these courses (include course designator and number).
  • Seminars: One for each year in the College Honors Program (a minimum of two). Indicate the semester you have taken or plan to take EACH seminar.
  • Honors Project: The Honors Project is an independent study; therefore the course number is 490H. Indicate the semester you plan to take the credits for your project, the number of credits, and the departmental designator (e.g. HD FS, C I, HRI, Ex Sp, FS HN, etc.).

Once you have indicated the above on your current degree audit or four-year plan, you need to do the following:

If you make changes to your POS, you do NOT need to inform the College Honors Committee, unless those changes are considered major. Major changes would include the following:

  • A change in major or minor
  • A change in course designator and/or credit hours for the Honors Project

If you are unsure, contact your Department Honors Representative for help.
