This program is designed for students interested in FSHN department majors, including: Culinary Science, Dietetics, Diet & Exercise, Food Science, and Nutritional Science (also a pre-health option). The visit day is a great way to gain an inside look at the majors offered through FSHN, career opportunities, and tour the facilities Iowa State faculty and students use for product development and research. Students will also be able to meet FSHN faculty, current students, and learn more about the exciting advances being made at Iowa State in the food science industry.

There is no registration fee.

Parking is available for a small fee at the Memorial Union ramp on Lincoln Way.

Tentative Schedule:

March 9, 2010 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.	FSHN DAY Food Science and Human Nutrition
9:00 - 10:00 a.m.	Check-in.
10:00 a.m.	Informational session Learn about majors and career opportunities in Food Science and Human Nutrition.
10:30 a.m.	Keynote Speaker-TBA
11:00 a.m.	Campus tour OR Current Student Panel Tour the ISU campus with a STAR Student Admissions Representative OR attend an interactive panel with current FSHN students.
12:00 p.m.	Lunch with ISU students Bring money for lunch and join nutrition and food science students for lunch in the Memorial Union Food Court.
1:00 - 3:00 p.m.	FSHN Department activities Meet faculty, staff, and students in the areas of nutrition and food science, while learning about designing new foods and altering existing foods to make them more healthful for the consumer. Tour the new food preparation lab areas and visit with ISU students about product development, from formulation to processing. Evaluate the nutritional composition of food products and discuss the relationship between diet and health. Be a panelist on a consumer sensory evaluation panel and taste test foods.
3:00 - 3:30 p.m.	Check-Out OR Admission Session Information Obtain enrollment information from an ISU Office of Admissions representative.
