The curriculum in Early Childhood Education (ECE) is jointly administered by the Department of Human Development and Family Studies and the Department of Curriculum in the College of Human Sciences. The ECE curriculum requires a strong foundation in child and family development in addition to coursework in both preprimary and primary education curricula. Students complete a student teaching experience in both preschool and primary (kindergarten through third grade) classroom settings. Successful completion of the program enables students to seek an Iowa teaching license for prekindergarten - third grade.
