International Achievement Award

Objective: The objective of the International Achievement Award is to recognize an individual for sustained interest and involvement in international activities that bring recognition to the College of Human Sciences and Iowa State University, and contribute to the mission of the College in the international arena.

Eligibility: Faculty or faculty on adjunct or permanent appointment who has completed at least 3 years of service in the College of Human Sciences.

Amount of Award: $500

Number of Awards: One per year, although the College of Human Sciences Honors and Awards Committee reserves the right to not select any recipient in a given year.

Criteria: Documented evidence of excellence and impact in scholarship related to position, over an extended period of time, including where applicable, research and outreach of international dimensions, infusing international perspectives in teaching, and international service.

Submit:

1. Cover page
2. Table of Contents
3. Nomination form
4. Nomination statement of no more than three pages, signed by an individual with a reputation in international research teaching, outreach or professional practice or service, describing why this person deserves this award. The purpose of this statement is to persuade those reviewing the nomination that this candidate is deserving of the award. Cite specific examples of relevant behaviors whenever possible.
5. A copy of the nominee's current curriculum vitae.
6. Preface items 6 and 7 with a list of the names and positions of the letter writers and an indication of their relevance to the nomination.
7. Include at least three letters of recommendation, two of which should be from ISU faculty, staff or administration (maximum one page for each), who are in a position to comment on the nominee's international activity. These statements should be written specifically for the nomination.
