Objective: The objective of the Early Achievement in Research Award is to recognize evidence of exemplary research performance or scholarship accomplishments unusually early in a faculty member's career, as documented by clients and peers.
Eligibility: Tenured or tenure-track faculty member with not more than eight years experience post-Ph.D. (or other appropriate terminal degree), excluding post-doctoral work, a minimum of two years at Iowa State University's College of Human Sciences.
Amount of Award: $500
Number of Awards: One per year, although the College of Human Sciences Honors and Awards Committee reserves the right to not select any recipient in a given year.
Criteria: Selection is based on evidence of exemplary research performance or scholarship accomplishments as documented by clients and peers.
Submit:
- Cover page.
- Table of Contents.
- Nomination form.
- Statement of no more than three pages, signed by an individual with a reputation for prestigious research, describing why this person deserves the award for which he or she is being nominated. The purpose of this statement is to persuade those reviewing the nomination that this candidate is deserving of the award. If relevant, cite specific examples of for each of the following, wherever possible:
- Relevant behaviors
- Publications
- Recognition
- The nominee's current curriculum vitae.
- If relevant, include a list of current or former students with information about their current employment or other research activities.
- Include at least one statement from the nominee's colleagues who are in a position to comment on his or her research. Ideally, these colleagues should have national/international reputations for excellence in research. Each statement should be in letter form on relevant letterhead and signed by the corresponding colleague.
- Include at least one statement from an expert in the nominee's fields at other institutions who are knowledgeable about the nominee's work and how it has been evaluated by peers. Again, ideally, these colleagues should have national/international reputations for excellence in research. Each statement should be in letter form on relevant letterhead and signed by the corresponding colleague.
