Career Achievement in Research Award

Objective: The objective of the Career Achievement in Research Award is to recognize evidence of exemplary research performance, and scholarship.

Eligibility: Tenured faculty who have had a professional career since their Ph.D. (or other appropriate terminal degree) of more than 15 years and who has been employed by the Iowa State University College of Human Sciences for at least four years.

Amount of Award: $500

Number of Awards: One per year, although the College of Human Sciences Honors and Awards Committee reserves the right to not select any recipient in a given year.

Criteria: Documented evidence of outstanding national/international recognition for contributions in research, as well as evidence that the research activity has influenced undergraduate and/or graduate students.

Submit:

1. Cover page.
2. Table of Contents.
3. Nomination form.
4. Statement of no more than three pages, signed by an individual with a reputation for prestigious research, describing why this person deserves the award for which he or she is being nominated. The purpose of this statement is to persuade those reviewing the nomination that this candidate is deserving of the award. Cite specific examples of for each of the following, wherever possible:
   1. Relevant behaviors
   2. Publications
   3. Recognition
5. The nominee's current curriculum vitae.
6. If relevant, include a list of current or former students with information about their current employment or other research activities.
7. Include at least three statements from the nominee's colleagues who are in a position to comment on his or her research. Ideally, these colleagues should have national/international reputations for excellence in research. Each statement should be in letter form on relevant letterhead and signed by the corresponding colleague.
8. Include at least three letters from experts in the nominee's fields at other institutions who are knowledgeable about the nominee's work and how is has been evaluated by peers. Again, ideally, these colleagues should have national/international reputations for excellence in research. Each statement should be in letter form on relevant letterhead and signed by the corresponding colleague.
