James SkogsberghAlumni Achievement AwardBy the College of EducationFor meritorious service and/or distinguished achievement in such areas as business and industry, education, and health.
As President of Central Iowa Health System, Jim Skogsbergh is chief executive officer for Lutheran, Methodist, and Blank hospitals. He has been described as an “up and comer,” who was recognized by his state as Iowa Young Administrator of the Year in 1992. The open forums Jim holds for his employees exemplify his friendly, participatory leadership style. Throughout his workdays, he touches people in a most kind, compassionate, and personal basis, often taking time out to visit ailing patients and their families. He is an active member on nine boards, including chairman of Junior Achievement, and has headed two major walk-a-thons. Last year, his enthusiastic approach helped the American Heart Association break records for fundraising and attendance at the Heart Ball. This year, he chaired another major charity event, the American Heart Walk. Somehow, Jim also finds time to mentor young people for his church and to come to his children’s school to read to their classes. He genuinely personifies integrity and outstanding alumni achievement. |
