Linda Gene Nixon FosterProfessional Achievement AwardBy the College of Family and Consumer SciencesThis award recognizes superior professional accomplishments in education, extension, research, administration or business in the several fields of family and consumer sciences.
Known for her visionary leadership and “can-do” attitude, Linda Foster is committed to the education of young people. The principal of Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Texas, she is responsible for 1,300 students, 150 teachers and staff, and more than 2,000 parents. Under her leadership, both students and teachers have excelled. To facilitate student learning and success, she initiated dual credit programs with colleges and universities, created an optional seven-period day to allow students to take a challenging 24-credit program, and developed an academic support center to enhance the transition of students into the high school. An active member of the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals, Foster is on the state committee for the development of an administrator appraisal process. She participated in the inaugural class of Leadership Texas and was named to the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame in Education. She is an advocate for all students and a leader in curriculum, instruction, and administration. |
