Debra Emery
1983, Housing and the Near Environment

Debra Emery has dedicated her time and expertise to educating community groups about housing concerns. In her official role as housing assistant for the City of Ames, she helps low-income families with their housing needs. Her caring attitude and commitment to public service has helped make the Rental Housing Subsidy Program one of Ames’ most successful programs.

In all of her professional and volunteer activities, Emery consistently demonstrates her loyalty to Iowa State University and is an energetic ambassador for the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. She shares her expertise by being a guest lecturer in classes and by providing field experience and internship guidance through her office. As treasurer of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences Alumni Association, Emery demonstrated her enthusiastic support of alumni activities and her commitment to Iowa State University.
