More than ever, companies and individuals are relying on experienced, professional event managers to coordinate conferences, weddings, festivals, and other special occasions. You’ll study trend analysis, hospitality, and resource management to organize momentous gatherings on time and within budget.
The Event Management program, part of the Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management, provides curriculum and hands-on training in one of the nation’s hottest job fields.
Students in the Event Management program learn from the best. Our faculty members are experts in a wide range of areas related to hospitality, food service, catering, promotion, brand management, trend analysis, resource management, and finances.
Event Management students also have unique opportunities to gain valuable experience and internal internships for events unique to the ISU campus, such as the prestigious ISU Fashion Show and events related to the athletics department, the alumni association, ISU Dining/catering, the Greek system, Dance Marathon, and VEISHEA.
Event Management majors, as part of the AESHM department, need only complete one College of Human Sciences online application to automatically apply for all college and departmental scholarships. The application is generally available from November through February.
Seek out opportunities to be involved in the planning of events for your high school, church, local charity, library, community, etc.
Internships are available with hotels, caterers, independent businesses, and country clubs to name just a few of the opportunities you will find.
