Our Vision: Expanding Human Potential

"Alone we can do little; together we can do so much."

          -Helen Keller

Our vision is to expand human potential across the lifespan through educational experiences, community enhancement and optimizing health and well-being among individuals, families, educational institutions, and communities using scientific approaches, entrepreneurial creativity, and contemporary learning and lifestyle technologies.

We aspire to excel in preparing our graduates to be professional practitioners, scholars, entrepreneurs and leaders in families, educational institutions, business, government and communities. We support both the individual and public good by creating, sharing and applying knowledge and improving institutional practice.

This vision is summarized in the figure above, illustrating four interdisciplinary, cross-cutting themes that tie together CHS departments, faculty, extension and academic programs. The themes include health and well-being, education and human development, community enhancement and entrepreneurship, and science and technology in the human environment. The center of the figure identifies the platforms or audiences with whom the college most often works, including individuals, families, communities and educational institutions.
