Assessment of Student Learning

Assessment is the continuous process of gathering and discussing information from multiple sources about what students know, comprehend, and can do as a result of their educational experiences, as well as what they value and believe, and then using the results to improve subsequent learning.

Rationale for Assessment in the College of Human Sciences

The mission of the College of Human Sciences is to provide an integrative approach to improving the quality of life for individuals, families, schools, and communities by linking discovery, science, creativity, and practice; applying the knowledge of learning in all endeavors; and developing leaders for roles in research, education, business and industry, and health and human services. In support of the mission, assessment programs continually improve learning in both undergraduate and graduate programs. Information is gathered to understand the achievement and perspectives students have developed by the end of their academic programs. Assessment results are used both for improving programs and for measuring success in reaching strategic goals related to learning.
